Out of the numerous disputes that emerged between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and Buckingham Palace, a few centered around their firstborn, Prince Archie. As Markle revealed in the bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview, there were questions about his skin color raised at the Palace considering his mother’s ethnicity. Accusations of racism towards the Prince of Sussex stayed intact ever since the cracks between the families started showing. However, as Prince Harry bared his heart in his memoir, there’s more to what Meghan Markle and Prince Harry went through than just the supposed racism.

As reported by GoodToKnow via The Sun, the Palace requested a name change on Prince Archie’s birth certificate. More than a request, it was dictated by the Palace; the source claimed.

Given Kate Middleton’s liberty, and what we might think a basic right to have her name on all three certificates of her kids, this change seemed unprecedented. On the 5th of June, 2019, a month after the Prince was born, the palace demanded a change in the document. The certificate initially carried the name Rachel Meghan, Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Sussex, as the Prince’s mother. However, it was changed to Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Sussex.

It also came as an unusual demand, since the Palace does not have any such rules for naming the parents on the birth certificate of their children. Like Kate Middleton, Markle’s occupation was also listed as the Princess of the United Kingdom until it was altered by the Palace.

The reasons behind the same are not clear. Out of all the sensational revelations the Duke addressed, this reflected both in the tell-all memoir and in the docuseries as well. According to him, the entire ballyhoo from the Palace’s end was to keep “people tuned to the show.
