Before draping in the mantle of a duchess, Meghan Markle was a queen in the world of acting with an impressive list of flicks under her belt. Her breakthrough role as Rachel Zane in the American legal drama, Suits, brought her to the pinnacle of her career. This also enabled the actress to spread her influence beyond the boundaries of acting. Making the most of her fame, Markle became an active social media user, reaping the rewards of hefty brand endorsements worth $250,000.

However, she had to leave behind this world to honor her obligations to the royal family. Now that she is in charge of her own life, fans are expecting a comeback from Markle on social media. Recently, a viral clip from Family Guy further added fuel to the fire.

Seth MacFarlane’s animated sitcom, Family Guy, made a mockery of the Sussexes in an episode that aired Sunday evening. In the episode, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s caricatures lounged by the pool in bathing suits. A butler approached them in the parody, giving them “millions from Netflix for … no one knows what”. Suddenly a phone notification buzzes on the animated duchess’ phone, causing her to remind the Prince, “Babe, time to do our daily $250,000 sponsored Instagram post for Del Taco”.

After stepping down from their royal duties, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry entered into multiple deals with platforms like Netflix and Spotify to meet their financial requirements. While some did not go as planned, it still helped them obtain a substantial sum like the 20 million dollar Spotify deal. The couple’s $100 million deal with Netflix, though profitable, brought about a string of controversies. And now, after the Family Guy’s parody, the idea of them turning to social media for financial backing could gain even more prominence.

I’m getting back…on Instagram,” the digital native told writer Allison P. Davis. However, right after getting her fans’ hopes up, Markle put a damper on their expectations.
