However, amidst this anticipation, the makers, alongside the star Ryan Reynolds, are exploring new avenues for casting. This development surfaced shortly after the release of the second trailer, when fans noticed a familiar face in the background, albeit one not from the realm of cinema.

Ryan Reynolds' brilliance transcends conventional definitions, a fact underscored by recent speculation swirling around Deadpool & Wolverine. It all kicked off with the release of the second trailer for which Reynolds had been dropping hints beforehand. In one pivotal scene featuring Wolverine seated in a bar, eagle-eyed fans could not help but notice a towering figure sporting a distinctive beard, reminiscent of Wrexham AFC forward Ollie Palmer. This observation was initially highlighted by the podcast account Fearless in Devotion on X.
Palmer's own acknowledgment of the trailer on Reynolds' post fueled the speculation further. Moreover, the podcast confirmed having conversed with Palmer, who purportedly verified his appearance in the footage. Besides these clues, Reynolds himself chimed in on the tweet, praising the account's “keen eyesight”. While neither party officially confirmed the casting, these subtle gestures were enough to fuel the fervor surrounding the potential addition.
Just as the likelihood of Palmer's potential role in Deadpool & Wolverine gains momentum, a recent conversation with one of the X-Men veterans, Famke Janssen, has stirred increasing anticipation among fans.

In a recent interview with ComicBook, Famke Janssen shed some light on her potential appearance as Jean Grey in Deadpool & Wolverine. The actress appeared in five X-Men films from 2000 to 2014. Talking about her possible appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine, although Janssen maintained ambiguity, she did acknowledge that it is unpredictable and “you never know”.
Giving examples of her experiences, she recalled how she “never anticipated” that she would return after Jean Grey’s death as Phoenix. However, not only did she return, but returned quite a few times like in X-Men: The Last Stand, The Wolverine, and Days of Future Past. Although it is inherently difficult to verify whether Janssen’s stance was a red or green light, at least, for now, fans can take respite in the Easter eggs dropped by Ollie Palmer and Ryan Reynolds for the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine.
