For years, the BAFTAs In Memoriam segment has been considered one of the most emotional moments of the award show. With the world losing Friends star, Matthew Perry, last year, fans of the show were hoping to see the actor getting a tribute with his 5 former co-stars in attendance. Although the emotional video featured Michael Gambon and even Carl Weathers, Matthew Perry was not mentioned in the BAFTA’s look back. Not only that, even his Friends co-stars, Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox, and Lisa Kudrow were nowhere to be seen. However, months ago, the stars already shared their tributes for their fallen brother.

While the former co-stars might not be ready to publicly speak about Perry’s passing, they managed to share their love for the actor in their ways. From throwbacks to heartfelt captions, they all took to social media to pay homage to the man who had always made sure to make them laugh. Even the creators of the NBC sitcom came forward to share their thoughts on the forever 54-year-old.

Although the BAFTA Awards may have missed out on adding Perry to their In Memoriam segment, the Emmy Awards had gone all out for the comedian.

The 2024 Emmy’s tribute to Matthew Perry

Just last month, Friends fans were brought to tears as they watched the Emmy’s In Memoriam segment. While the clip had featured a slew of Hollywood’s favorites who had passed away, the spotlight was put on Matthew Perry. During the video, pop star Charlie Puth took the stage to sing ‘See You Again’ with the duo, The War and Treaty. However, just as the comedian came into focus, they switched to a slowed-down version of the show’s theme song.

The moment had fans of the sitcom all bawling their eyes out at the emotional moment. The only disappointment fans found was that the Friends cast members had not joined in on the celebration of Perry’s life. However, it was later revealed that they were all too grief-stricken to bring themselves on stage. After all, the actor was like a brother to the stars.
