Did Fox Studios Really Shape Ryan Reynolds’ Multi Million Dollar Hollywood Career? Shawn Levy Speaks His Truth
After starting his career in acting as a teenager, Ryan Reynolds had to wade through many side roles before he landed his breakthrough performance. His early career was marked by many back-to-back romantic comedies like The Proposal and action thrillers like Safe House. Since Deadpool 2 which came out in 2018, 20th Century Fox was taken over by Disney. In the recent issue of Total Film Magazine via The Direct, Shawn Levy addressed this takeover and its impact on everybody involved with the Deadpool franchise. According to him, the studio “shaped a lot of” the present-day MCU including his own, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s careers. In Reynolds’ case, Fox Studios was also behind his blockbuster, Free Guy.
Although the Deadpool 3 director earlier revealed that the movie was currently paused mid-way, he also spoke on how the takeover will be addressed in it. For him, the substantial “Marvel history at Fox” demanded a tribute in Deadpool 3. So, he confirmed that it will feature as a “part of” the film’s “storytelling”. Earlier, this aspect was also seen in some leaked photos of the flick.
When some photos from the sets of Deadpool 3 surfaced, something caught fans’ attention. The monumental takeover of Fox Studios was depicted in an iconic way.
How does Deadpool 3 give tribute to Fox Studios?
In the images that surfaced on X (formerly known as Twitter) in July, fans were able to glimpse some moments from the upcoming Deadpool 3. Among them was one intriguing click that featured a huge 20th Century Fox logo. It was constructed in the proportions of a small house. However, the logo seemed toppled over resting on its side. This hinted at the movie making a tongue-in-cheek reference to the takeover.
