2024 is turning out to be a tubular year for nostalgia, with revivals, reboots, and sequels of classic faves taking over the entertainment scene. From music to movies and TV, it's like everything old is new again. We are seeing the return of iconic franchises like Beverly Hills Cop and The Hunger Games, plus reboots of cult faves like The Crow and Resident Evil. But one revival that has got everyone stoked is the reboot of the critically acclaimed series Dexter. 

Ahead of the hit crime series hopping into the Netflix bandwagon, its upcoming reboot is all set to bring back the dark and twisted world of America's favorite serial killer. 

According to Variety, as followed up from Comic-Con 2024, Michael C. Hall, the lead star, will not only narrate the prequel series Original Sin but also reprise his role as Dexter Morgan in a new sequel series, Dexter: Resurrection. As per the latest updates fans of the hit series Dexter were treated to a surprise announcement. Long overdue for both movie freaks and show lovers alike, the upcoming sequel series is likely to land on our screens next summer.

Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global Co-CEO, expressed enthusiasm for Hall's return, stating it will appeal to millions of fans. The prequel series Original Sin will introduce a new generation to the iconic series, while Dexter: Resurrection will satisfy existing audiences, he said. The dual announcements promise to revitalize the beloved franchise, offering something for both old and new fans.

Dexter's whereabouts have not just served the likes of Hollywood stans but also catered to the ones on OTT. 

As reported earlier this year in May by Forbes, Netflix has successfully acquired the rights to stream the popular crime drama series. Originally aired on Showtime for eight seasons from 2006 to 2013, the show narrates how Dexter Morgan, played by Hall, a forensic analyst decides to take up Justice into his own hands and clean up the city in his unconventional ways. Targeting society's worst criminals, Hall played a serial killer with his father playing an important hand in it all.  

Harry, his adoptive father, taught him to channel his urges by eliminating those who escape justice. As a crime scene detective with the Miami Metro Police Department, Dexter hides in plain sight, executing his victims while recounting their past crimes. With the sequel saved for next year, Dexter: Original Sin is set to premiere later this year in December. Moreover, until the streaming giant starts streaming Dexter, it is not the only choice on Netflix to watch if you love crime dramas and thrillers.
