Despite the Strong Facade, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are Taken Aback by Their Columbia Trip Backlash
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have spent the years since their grand Megxit trying to define themselves as non-royals but still working for an audience that has strong reasons to believe that they are the non-functional leg of the royal family. However, as they go from Montecito to Nigeria to Columbia, it seems like there is simply no place far enough to get them away from the pigeonhole of the narrative.
Despite the constantly changing opinion regarding the couple, the Sussexes have maintained consistency with their picture-perfect glows, but even they could not help but let slip their stiff upper lip.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are stuck in the eternal limbo of trying to live a royal life despite having made a show of quitting it nearly half a decade ago. While the backlash for this practice has always been high, according to a source's statement to OK! revealed that it took them the Columbia trip to finally put things into perspective. The backlash they garnered on their second pseudo-royal trip this year has the Sussexes feeling embarrassed, especially since it is the second time in a row.
While reasons have varied, the majority of the feathers are simply ruffled by the fact that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have quit the crown but decided to keep the crown jewels. This, to the Sussexes who were swept off their feet on foreign trips during their royal tenure, was quite the news.
The two might have only reached the well of embarrassment so far, but the trip to Columbia has netizens demanding more from the royal couple.

In the pursuit of flying away from the pigeonhole of a royally scathing accusation, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle landed in Columbia, a poverty-stricken country where the majority population can barely afford basic amenities. To make matters worse, as netizens questioned the logic behind the Sussex going to Columbia when they had not visited the United Kingdom due to security reasons, it was revealed that the country had put in nearly $1.9 million for their security.
Although their ultimate goal and brand image remain blurry owing to the constant change of business alleys, the Sussexes probably did not need a stain so bad on their poster. Given that the statute of limitation on their Netflix deal is almost over, it will be interesting to see how the Sussexes manage to get out of this hole, if they do that is.
