Despite Snubbing the Prince Harry story, This is How ‘The Crown’ Displayed Alliance with the Spare Prince in its Finale
The royal family’s nitpicks deserve the momentum and when The Crown took release years back, their ode of responsibility for displaying the details carried much appreciation. Only recently, the prime-time show of Netflix came to a conclusion and disappointment took its course. However, amidst the enthusiasm, fans did not fail to notice how the sixth installment had successfully omitted a large part of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s involvement in the storyline.
Yet, to keep their amity with the Prince, the makers backed him up in an event that previously was also in disclosure in his tell-all memoir, Spare.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s fanbase looked forward to The Crown’s last installment with unabated anticipation. But dismay was sure to follow given their notable absence from the season. The reason behind the same is the director’s steadfastness in limiting Prince Harry’s storyline to focus on Prince William and Kate Middleton. However, their portrayal took the form of a subtle backing for Prince Harry when they confirmed the role behind Prince Harry’s controversial ‘Nazi Costume’ to be Prince and Princess of Wales.
In 2005, Prince Harry donned a nazi uniform for a “Colonials and Natives” themed costume party which led to a row of backlashes. In The Crown’s season 6, Prince Williams and Kate Middleton could be seen accompanying the Duke to the shop. Although Middleton’s take was more on the apprehensive side, Prince William showcased a nod of approval. Additionally, it was also in view that Prince William was sure that it was nothing more than a “joke”.
Considering the major disruption that his parody followed, Prince Harry also made the revelation in his book, Spare. Although The Crown has backed him up on this, there remains a contrast in the narration between the two.
Prince Harry’s Spare revelation on the Nazi costume
Prince Harry’s controversial take in the costume party was a scandalous event. Although Netflix’s revelation of the event had been in the talks previously, the last leg was a confirmation to it. Even then, a little detailing of the event was spared in contrast to Prince Harry’s Spare. In the book, the Duke had disclosed how his brother and Middleton played a bigger role than fueling the idea. It was reportedly their suggestion and not the Duke’s.

When the series made its point by saying that Prince Harry was the one behind the suggestion, the creators missed a beat. Furthermore, in the finale, it was on display that the pair were the ones to accompany him. Additionally, Middleton’s apprehension found no place in Spare, unlike the series. Hence, even though the support confirms the Duke’s allegations, there is no doubt that a sly approach has been in place from the maker’s end.
