Despite Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, Fans Find the Most Perfect Way To Bring Him Back With a New MCU Rumor

If Hollywood's bingo cards were rattling any harder in 2024, they would be in the throes of an existential crisis. But leave it to Marvel, purveyors of the impossible and the improbable, to lob the final grenade: Robert Downey Jr. as Dr. Doom. This news that was picked right from the 'impossible' column of fans' expectations owing to Downey Jr. having served his term and beyond as Iron Man. But alas, not even the deep coffers of Marvel can buy fan approval, and now the internet is aflame with a thousand armchair directors, with each eager to dictate how this casting could have done better.

With the superhero studio digging out more pivotal characters from the comic, every day is a fight between who should be and who should have been. While fans are mostly divided in their claim, they seem to be in cahoots about who should definitely not have been, kicking Cavillrine to the curb. It seems that some fans with their declaration of Robert Downey Jr. being the perfect Human Ultron, another handpicked character brought to life from the Marvel comics, will ensure that his Dr. Doom will meet the same fate if not recast.

Having already consigned Henry Cavill to the nearest metaphorical alley, fans are now sharpening their knives for Downey's misstep, which some believe to be his return to the MCU itself, while others blame his choice of character. While fans may think he is a good fit for Human Ultron, it is unlikely that Marvel would deck out on cash for a limited series in lieu of a blockbuster box office collection.

Despite being the most unprecedented of tricks that Marvel has pulled out of its hats in recent years, the Robert Downey Jr. casting as Dr. Doom debate is as fresh as the day despite more than a month having passed since the announcement.

As news of the Human Ultron returning made waves, with the underlying skepticism of whether he would be brought back in his human or robot form, fans saw it as the perfect opportunity for Marvel to bring Robert Downey Jr. back. However, the studio had already done a grand unmasking at the San Diego Comic-Con 2024. 

Fan went far beyond the physical attributes and how fantastic the casting would have been to draw parallels between how both Stark and Ultron tried to surpass their own creators.

With the stakes already being high for Robert Downey Jr.'s return, fans are split between trying to beat their own nostalgia and cheering for his return while also agreeing that his legacy as Iron Man was great enough in Marvel while also hoping that he would be recast as a certain character. Clearly, Hollywood's bingo cards are much more than rattled.
