Among the many areas that Meghan Markle has conquered without breaking a sweat, fashion seems to be ranking the highest. As she navigated the path of being a new royal bride, Markle used fashion as her weapon or shield of choice. However, it was not just simple high-class fashion, the Duchess of Sussex mindfully paid tribute to Princess Diana with her sartorial choices time and again.
From the iconic hat look to the emerald green coat, the Duchess has given a masterclass in paying an ode to Princess Diana through fashion. However, the most iconic Diana Spencer look remains untouched, not because Markle has not gotten to it yet, but because she cannot.

While many relish in the new takes that Meghan Markle brings to Princess Diana's outfits, either with her jewelry which, as Prince Harry's wife, she has unlimited access to or with her dressing choices. At this point, the Duchess has recreated almost half of all the iconic outfits sported by Princess Diana. However, the regal crown that the Princess sported during her marriage to King Charles has remained untouched. The reason being that despite being a swoon-worthy accessory, the Spencer crown, as it has come to be called, belongs to Princess Diana's household and is not a royal amenity.

While the brides of Prince Harry and Prince William have access to their mother's jewelry and often engage in the luxury of displaying the same with Kate Middleton's engagement ring itself belonging to Princess Diana, the Spencer crown is not theirs to wear. It was crafted for Cynthia Spencer, Princess Diana's grandmother in 1937, and the Princess often borrowed it from her father.
Given Markle's love for recreating Princess Diana's looks, when she did not incorporate the Spencer crown, many assumed that it was because of her current standing where even her Duchess title is in jeopardy. However, even Kate Middleton, ever the crown lover, has not used the Spencer crown.

Although not as much as Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton has paid tribute to Princess Diana countless times in her way. Middleton has especially done this through her various crown looks that she is often caught sporting, contrary to Meghan Markle's case. However, Kate Middleton, despite her love for crowns, has not worn the Spencer crown. If the occasion does arise for her to wear it, she would have to borrow it from Princess Diana's brother, in whose possession it now lies.
