Despite R-Rated Success, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Fails to Crack Top 5 On Google Trends for 2024

If this year has schooled cinephiles on anything, it is that no matter how impressive a cape crusader may be, the multiverse deals with them unnaturally. Around half a decade ago, Endgame saw Avengers assembling from every possible portal to vanquish Thanos. This year, Ryan Reynolds super-suited as the Marvel Jesus to bring back the momentum and save the Cinematic Universe. But it looks like its savior syndrome is not sitting well Earthbound, as even after turning up as the biggest R-rated guardian angel, Deadpool & Wolverine could not convince Google.

This divine intervention may have played well in the box-office, but Google trends prefer another five as its cinematic guide for 2024.

Before Deadpool & Wolverine hit the theaters this summer, redefining the concept of box-office savior single-handedly, it had to overcome the challenges of the Hollywood strike to maintain its momentum. While anyone would have admitted defeat, Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy did not, turning their cinematic bombshell into the highest-grossing R-rated flick of all time. Though its trailblazing had even Todd Phillips tipping off his hat, Deadpool & Wolverine shockingly could not make it to Google Trends top 5 segment

Instead of Phillips’ hard-to-forget nightmare, Inside Out 2 led the pack followed by Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, It Ends With Us, Saltburn, and Dune: Part Two. Blake Lively had long eyed a part of her husband’s R-rated victory lap by dethroning it in the Lady Deadpool way, and now the tide has finally turned in her favor. After weathering the storm of criticism and backlash over the rom-com and its PR strategies, Lively is finally getting the last laugh.

Either way, it would have been a win-win situation for the Gossip Girl alum. However, it looks like Lively is finally gearing up to claim Reynolds’ brief stint as the box office messiah before a new round of resolutions for 2025.

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are the power couple who often cause media frenzy with their unrelenting comedic sense. But together, this year, they reigned headlines with fierce momentum as Deadpool & Wolverine and It Ends With Us saw their prank wars trading in for the ultimate box-office battle. However, moving onto the New Year, the lovebirds are taking a break from the god-like glory to put family first, according to a source speaking to Life & Style magazine.

Reynolds and Lively are reportedly “retreating to their country home” for the festive season to give more time to their children after the “crazy year” they have had. The couple are entirely “committed” to this plan and have cleared their calendars all the same. Deadpool & Wolverine might not have been Google’s top dogs this year, but Reynolds is still the big winner because either way the party is at his place. Instead of playing host, he is suiting up as the cameo of honor.
