‘Deadpool’ Creator Rob Liefeld Alleges Mistreatment by Kevin Feige for His MCU Resignation
Behind the sheen of the entertainment world lies a side that prefers to stay in the shadows. But, from time to time, cracks appear, reminding everyone that life in Tinsel Town is not as picture-perfect as it seems. Deadpool & Wolverine, last year’s cinematic triumph that breathed new life into Marvel, is now facing its own off-screen drama. Rob Liefeld, the R-rated superhero Deadpool's creator, resigned from the MCU.
Following his resignation, Liefeld pointed to alleged unfair treatment and slights by Marvel head Kevin Feige as the reason for his departure.

Rob Liefeld decided to step away from the MCU after the July premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine, but it was not until recently that he shared the news in an episode of his Robservations podcast. He also gave an interview to The Hollywood Reporter, where he shared his grievances about what went down at that same star-studded premiere. Allegedly, the comic book writer and his family were left off the guest list for the Deadpool & Wolverine afterparty at the premiere. Liefeld did not take this snub lightly.
Liefeld then went on to reveal that Kevin Feige, who was said to be standing close by on the red carpet, did not even acknowledge him. “It was meant to embarrass, diminish, defeat me,” Liefeld explained. To make matters worse, his professional photos with the Deadpool & Wolverine creative team were suddenly erased as well. And this is far from the only controversy that has been linked to the blockbuster hit.
Ryan Reynolds has recently come under heavy fire for allegedly poking fun at real-life personalities in the movie, in the spirit of bullying.
Deadpool franchise is called out for mocking real-life personalities
Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively are currently making a lot of noise in the headlines because of their ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni. In the lengthy lawsuit, there was a claim from Baldoni, alleging Reynolds of mocking him in Deadpool & Wolverine through the character of Nicepool. And as fans rewound the movie to see if it held any truth, they quickly blasted Reynolds with criticism. While it has not been proven that Nicepool is a direct parody of Baldoni, Reynolds’ knack for satirizing real-life celebrities certainly is not anything new.

Fans also flagged another possible parody, aimed at his ex-wife, Scarlett Johansson. Allegedly, Reynolds took a jab at her with a spoofed line from Avengers: Age of Ultron in Deadpool 2, which did not sit well with some fans. While it could have been just a harmless MCU joke, it did put suspicions in fans’ minds. Now, the question is whether the Deadpool franchise’s star power and strong brand are enough to brush off these controversies, lawsuits, and allegations.
