DCU Fans Can Rejoice as 'Swamp Thing' Director James Mangold Declares His Mission for the Movie
The reinvention of DC Studios officially took flight last year when James Gunn, the visionary behind Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, revealed an ambitious roadmap to bring the studio out of its creative rut. While the announcement of a new Superman divided fans and sparked heated debates over casting, another title quietly piqued interest, Swamp Thing.
To ensure the project has the gravitas and intensity it demands, Gunn has enlisted the talents of James Mangold. With the latter on board, the movie is raking up excitement amongst fans as the director reveals that his plans about Swamp Thing do not involve dwelling on turning it into a franchise. Moreover, according to his interview with Movie Web, he will be "viewing it as a very simple, clean, Gothic horror movie about this man/monster."

An almost alien concept in today's interconnected cinematic universes, Mangold's simple approach towards Swamp Thing, and more so, his decision to make the movie a standalone, has filled fans with unprecedented joy. A standalone script, alone, paired with James Mangold's liquid approach regarding genres, is setting the stage for DC's reclamation to the throne.
Fans who have been watching every move of those involved in the big 10s that are set to turn the superhero universe's frown upside down have declared Mangold's vision, enough a reason for celebration.
James Mangold wins over fans with his Swamp Thing plans
Much like it becomes obvious through the title of a Swamp Thing that the movie or series is going to be about a monster, it becomes obvious through James Magold's name that he is going to deliver absolute gold. As the director marks a return to superhero franchises with Star Wars on one hand and Swamp Thing on the other, fans have more than one reason to celebrate.
Fans of the superhero series, who seem to have taken it upon their own shoulders to aid the DCU revamp, were elated to see Mangold's Swamp Thing vision.

Cinephiles were also quick to praise the director on wanting to create a standalone movie that too, a comic one. While a diamond in the rut, Ryan Reynolds also displayed a similar stance when asked about a Free Guy sequel. Adding a simple warning of 'do not mess this up' to Mangold's simple standalone vision, fans continue to support the full-fledged DC reboot.
