“It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s Superman!” The 1960s musical by David Newman and Robert Benton ingrained the character of Superman as a symbol of truth, hope, and justice in everyone’s minds. From kids to adults, many donned the red cape and the iconic Superman costume featuring blue, contrasting yellow and red. However, with the passage of time, the Superman costume itself has gone on to witness several changes. From Christopher Reeve’s bright-blue tights and bright-red trunks to a sleek, shiny, and intricately embroidered Superman outfit of Henry Cavill, the costume has had its different versions.

Now that James Gunn has set his plans in motion for his next Superman movie with his DC reboot, the question is, how is the new Superman, David Corenswet’s costume going to look like?

Ever since James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios, the duo has been hard at work. From rebooting the entire universe to bringing in a new roadmap, there are changes here and there. Additionally, the director has also repeatedly hinted at maintaining comic accuracy. As such, the statements have now garnered the attention of fans who are eagerly looking forward to the next iteration of the Superman costume. Gunn recently shared a post of his dog Ozu. A fan was quick to ask the director to show the Superman costume to which he simply replied that he was “not even slightly close to doing that.”

Regardless, ever since James Gunn replaced fan-favorite Henry Cavill for David Corenswet as the next Superman, questions galore. In light of this, fans wonder if the comic-accurate red trunks will make a comeback or even a cameo. However, after the shiny and magnificent-looking attire donned by Cavill, fans do not want to look back. However, for the time being, fans can only hope to wait and wonder until James Gunn breaks the ice himself.

Meanwhile, the next Superman actor, David Corenswet, has already started taking his work seriously as he looks to be a suitable replacement for Henry Cavill as Superman.

James Gunn came under massive fire for his decision to depart Henry Cavill from his long-beloved role. However, for fans, a Superman lost was a Superman gained. As Henry Cavill’s Superman famously said to Louis Lane that the ‘S’ on Superman stands for hope, fans are now looking outwards. In recent photos that appeared online, fans spotted a nearly unrecognizable David Corenswet. The actor seemed to have bulked up and improved his physique staggeringly to get in superhero shape.

Therefore, while James Gunn has already admitted that his script for Superman: Legacy is ready, production should start anytime soon as the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes subside. With the multiverse, even making way in DC after its rival Marvel, the hopes for a cameo by Cavill’s Superman remain high.
