Whether it is the DCU or MCU, in the world of superheroes, heroic combats have often brainstormed what-if situations. Fans from both realms have made their case for advocating the stronger and mightier for decades and more. Henry Cavill, DC’s former Superman, is rumored to make his potential entry into the Marvel Universe with Dr Doom and Captain Britain as top choices. After bidding his farewell to DCU, this can be a breakthrough after the James Gunn takeover. Adding to this, several outlets have imagined him in the bold regalia of the optic blast hero of X-Men, Cyclops.

While the world remains familiar with the British charmer in Superman’s cape, what happens when Superman Cavill attempts a showdown with Cyclops Cavill? Who would win?

The comic rivalry between DC and Marvel is no stranger to the superhero aficionados. However, to straighten the debate, here is what a superhero showdown between Superman and Cyclops can conclude. Firstly, the energy particles and components, the speed, and the range differ drastically between the beams of both the heroes. Although Cyclops’ optic blast exerts concussive energy to cut through almost every solid matter, it might not outshine Superman’s beamer’s might.

The reason is Superman’s laser discharge focuses on solar radiation. Hence, if the laser beams were to clash, the scientific possibility would be the blasts hit both the heroes, probably pushing back Superman but devastating Cyclops. Furthermore, since Superman has the authority to control his superpowers, the chances of Cyclops losing to the Last Son of Kryptonite stay green. If Superman did find a way to adjust his beams to cut through the rival’s optic blast, he definitely could divert the blast as he had done to Dark Seid’s Omega Beams.

Ideally, Henry Cavill would definitely make a great Cyclops. But that does not mean a potential Cavill Cyclops can end a tried and tested Cavill Superman. The reasons are many, but one core cause is Superman’s solar vision has a slow-focused beam. Due to its focal power, the intensity is twice as much. It is true that both their optic blasts differ as Superman’s beam lacks kinetic force, and Cyclops falls short in heat energy. Also, Superman’s weaknesses are Kryptonite and magic, while Cyclops’ weakness lies in his power to show itself- his visors. Hence, if the visors were done for, so should Cyclops.

Moreover, Superman’s beam comes from the Sun, a never-exhausting source that has the power to cut through super strong alloys due to generation from the Sun’s core. If he were to unleash his entire potential, just not a DC vs MC showdown, the entire world might fall prey to collateral damage. And even though Cyclops has expertise in cutting through steel-like matter, when the beam spreads, the blast loses focus and intensity, which is amplified by his fidgety control. Therefore, the winner in every which way would be Superman despite a good combat.
