However, months later, it seems like we finally might see a new face as the race to be the next Superman boils down to these three actors.

The latest reports by Deadline suggest the name of three actors has been shortlisted to audition for Superman. The three actors who made it are Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet, and Tom Brittney. Reports further read that the last screen test for the role would be taking place next week.

Not long ago, rumors about Pierson Fodé impressing Gunn with his audition surfaced online. However, following the latest report, it seems like the Bold and Beautiful actor is no longer in the race. The three final actors in the bid to become the next Superman perfectly fit Gunn’s requirements. The Suicide Squad director previously hinted towards a younger Superman and all the three stars are rather young, in their early 30s or late 20s.

The latest news suggested how the studio is planning to replace Lois Lane as well. It is safe to assume, Gunn is in full swing to make his DC headliner film Superman Legacy a huge one.

Interestingly, one of the frontrunners for the role was quite close to playing another major DC hero before his current consideration for Superman.

Nicholas Hoult is perhaps one of the most talented young stars in today’s time. The actor has also proved to be a top choice to play the next Man of Steel. However, it might surprise you to know but the Warm Bodies actor almost starred as a major superhero before taking up the role of Superman.

Reports by Variety suggested that the actor auditioned to play Batman in Matt Reeves’ 2022 movie way before the Superman rumors surfaced. However, the actor lost the part to Robert Pattinson. Later, Hoult was all praises for the fantastic job Pattinson did as Bruce Wayne as he revealed, “I don’t think I would have done as good a job as him ultimately.“
