Could Chad Stahelski’s Lionsgate Deal Alter the Course of Henry Cavill’s Upcoming ‘Highlander’ Project?
Just last year, it was revealed that Henry Cavill would be a part of a much-needed Highlander reboot. While the film had come out in the 80s, fans were still excited to see the star take on the role of Connor MacLeod. Although the confirmation came years after the speculation began, it still left fans itching to find out more.
However, now with the director of the film, Chad Stahelski striking up a deal with Lionsgate Studios, some of the actor’s fans were left wondering if the new deal could end up changing the course of the actor’s upcoming film.

In 2023, the world could not get the Henry Cavill film or series that they had wanted as the Hollywood strikes put a stop to all filming. However, in October, it was announced that Chad Stahelski, the director of John Wick, would be at the helm of the actor’s Highlander reboot. While they already had ties with Lionsgate, the director recently took it a step further and signed a deal to oversee not one but both the projects. With the 55-year-old having to split his time between both films, will the 80s reboot stay on track?
Will Chad Stahelski be able to manage Henry Cavill’s project and a John Wick reboot?
It was revealed that Chad Stahelski and his 87Eleven Entertainment team were already working on the content strategy they would be using to manage both Henry Cavill’s Highlander and a John Wick spin-off. With them already working out any kinks that could potentially show up as the production and filming progresses, there should not be anything stopping the director from balancing both projects with ease.
In case the team does run into any hurdles, they have a good chance of getting across it as they will have help from the John Wick franchise producers, Thunder Road’s Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee to help work things out. As for Cavill’s project, Stahelski will be working closely with Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz and the estate of the late Peter S. Davis on Highlander.
While the scheduling worries might have been settled, some people were also concerned about whether Cavill’s starrer could be pushed back because Stahelski will be juggling both films.
Could Chad Stahelski’s new deal cause Henry Cavill’s Highlander to see a delay?
Ever since the world found out that they could be getting a Highlander reboot, that is all they have wanted. Thankfully, last year, their dreams came true with the film not only getting a reboot but also starring the fan-favorite, Henry Cavill. However, while the film has been confirmed, no release date has been mentioned so far. With the flick not yet going into filming, it might be a while before the world gets to see it, probably 2026.
With Chad Stahelski taking up more responsibility with the franchise in his new deal with Lionsgate, there is a possibility that the director could end up focusing on this film instead of the rumored John Wick spin-off. However, even with most of his focus on the Cavill project, fans cannot expect to see the likes of the film anytime soon as it has not even gone into filming yet.
While the world might have to wait and see how this whole thing ends up playing out, the new Lionsgate deal could end up elevating the aesthetic of the ’80s film

Over the years, Chad Stahelski has built a reputation for pushing the boundaries of action choreography, as seen in John Wick. With the director having complete creative control of Henry Cavill’s upcoming Highlander reboot, the sword-fighting ways of Connor MacLeod might just be taken to a whole new level. Since the last film was made back in the ’80s, the director can explore way more technology to help him bring in what he thinks it needs.
Apart from just enhancing the character’s epic sword-wielding tricks, the studio deal can also help Stahelski make the reboot his own. With the director being given complete creative direction, it looks like fans are in for quite a treat with Cavill’s next project.
