Contrary to Prince Harry’s Belief, Royal Expert Claims Princess Diana Would Not Have Liked Meghan Markle
In the plethora of headlines that were published about Meghan Markle, there were also plenty that compared her effect on the public to that of the late Princess Diana. Fondly remembered as the People’s Princess, Diana Spencer was a maverick if the royal family had ever seen one. This explains why the Duchess, who dressed differently, talked more openly, and embraced heartily, reminded everyone, even Prince Harry, of her.
In their popular Netflix memoir, Harry and Meghan, the Duke said, “So much of what Meghan is and how she is, is so similar to my Mom,”. When Princess Diana passed away, the now 38-year-old Prince was only twelve years old. It is clear through his memoir that he has struggled to cope with her loss. However, contrary to the Spare author’s beliefs about Markle being similar to his mother, a royal expert has claimed that if Spencer were alive, she would have “clashed” with Markle.

Kinsley Schofield made some high claims in an interview earlier this year. According to him, the new author would have married his ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy had it been up to Princess Diana. It is unlikely that Schofield came to the conclusion on the basis of the Duke’s mother and wife’s outspoken personalities.
“I don’t think Meghan Markle would be around if Diana were here,” Schofield says. The late Princess of Wales was known to not let royal protocols curb her affection for her children. Even under immense scrutiny, she displayed awe-striking courage and Prince Harry has remained a firm believer that she would have supported his move across the pond.
While it is impossible to tell if the royal expert’s recollection is correct, it is true that Prince Harry dated Chelsy Davy for quite a while before marrying Markle.

As has come to be known from his memoir, the Archetypes owner was quite the party animal. And this time in his life aligns with the years that he spent with Chelsy Davy. Starting from 2004 to 2011, the couple were spotted together numerous times. Interestingly, the Duke and Meghan Markle dated only over a year before Kensington Palace announced that they were engaged. This does not come as a surprise to those who have read Spare.
The Prince’s memoir details how he fell in love at first sight with the Suits actress. When the couple finally tied the knot in 2018, Prince Harry continued the royal tradition of inviting exes to the wedding by extending one for Chelsy Davy. Thankfully, she did not follow the royal exes tradition of wearing white.
