Following its decade-long run, the NBC sitcom Friends had become the staple comfort show for consecutive generations. Even now, the comedic interludes do not miss a beat after being repeatedly viewed by most of the audience. The series which retained the 4th most streamed title not very long ago, included many guest appearances and cameo roles. One of the most amusing ones that blended seamlessly with the core cast was that of Kathy, portrayed by Paget Brewster. 

While on the show, Kathy’s portrayal became one of the controversial ones. But more than the reel, the real debate ensued when Brewster admitted breaking a rule on the sets with no regrets.

Paget Brewster breached a rule on the set of Friends

Paget Brewster’s role in Friends stirred much in-story debate due to her brewing relationship with Chandler while dating Joey. While one would have thought that her defying of a rule would be her role in breaking the bro-code, it was not. Instead, it was something that she confessed to infringing during her presence on the set while she was not shooting. Brewster admitted in one of her tweets to climbing up into the “lighting catwalks above the stage and audience to watch everyone”.

Even while disclosing the same, she added that it was a “huge insurance no no.” However, she also regretted “none of it.”. Furthermore, the guest star recalled how it was her “first real acting job” which made her tense. But she continued to reveal how the cast “was so kind to me.”. Her goofy disclosure also cued that not only was she grateful for her part in the show, but she was also a fan of it. 

While Paget Brewster’s off-screen hilarity made fans crack up in a way like none, her on-screen presence was no less of a giddy thread.

Paget Brewster’s role in Friends

Friends featured many cameo roles throughout its airing, including Brad Pitt, Paul Rudd, Brewster, and others. After Netflix acquired the rights to stream Friends, Brewster also revealed having been on a binge-run watching the show. While she resonates with most of the audience, her role in Friends did not. Kathy’s depiction came forth in the fourth season of the show as Joey’s romantic liaison. However, in a major turn of events, Chandler fell in love with her.

Given that the feelings were mutual, her feature saw a possible fallout between Joey and Chandler’s brotherhood. But to the good fate of the fans, the impact did not last long on their friendship, but neither did Kathy and Chandler’s affair. Instead, during their break-up, Joey and Chandler shared a relatable moment. Yet, considering Brewster’s on-screen and off-screen quirkiness, there is no doubt that she was the perfect fit for the role.
