While the equations that the royals have shared with the public and vice versa have always been complicated, one person who swiftly navigated this complex equation was Princess Diana. Betancourt put into perspective what Markle and her husband actually did in Columbia, and it had more to do with reaching out to the youth, truly listening to their equation with social media, and educating them on how to navigate through its evils than anything else. This seems to be miles different from the allegations that indicated that they were in just for their own good.

With a wedding that was rumored to cost around $42.8 Million, a Montecito mansion estimated around $14 Million, and a lucrative Netflix deal that made the rounds owing to its $100 Million price tag, it is clear as day that the Sussexes do not come in without big money. While this is understandable owing to the title they hold, it did not sit well when this cost was imposed on a poverty-stricken country like Columbia.

Even though the Sussexes visited the country on invitation, the whopping cost of security that was approximately $1.9 Million, could not be overlooked. This, when combined with the statements of angry Columbia natives who chided the royal couple for being unaware, ultimately brought them more folly than favor, dusting off their main agenda, which was to help the youth, under the rug.
