Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who had spent the better half of last year facing flake over their Netflix documentary and their decision to lay bare their experience with the royal family. Given that the Sussexes not only implied but put into words and actions that their royal family experience was not all roses and, in fact, mostly thorns, they quickly lost the title of the fan-favorite couple. As the couple took on the Columbia trip, it seemed like the same hateful sentiment had followed them there as well.

Critics quickly dubbed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as "pseudo-royals" for their continued high-profile trips, but their determination has now earned them comparisons to Princess Diana.

While the equations that the royals have shared with the public and vice versa have always been complicated, one person who swiftly navigated this complex equation was Princess Diana. While it is evident through their PR failures that the Sussexes do not replicate the late Princess in this manner, according Harper Bazaar's Bianca Betancourt, who followed the couple to Columbia, they are an extension of her when interacting with the youth.

Betancourt put into perspective what Markle and her husband actually did in Columbia, and it had more to do with reaching out to the youth, truly listening to their equation with social media, and educating them on how to navigate through its evils than anything else. This seems to be miles different from the allegations that indicated that they were in just for their own good.

While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may have really advocated for a good cause while in Columbia, the cost of their visit happened to be huge enough to shadow it all.

With a wedding that was rumored to cost around $42.8 Million, a Montecito mansion estimated around $14 Million, and a lucrative Netflix deal that made the rounds owing to its $100 Million price tag, it is clear as day that the Sussexes do not come in without big money. While this is understandable owing to the title they hold, it did not sit well when this cost was imposed on a poverty-stricken country like Columbia.

Even though the Sussexes visited the country on invitation, the whopping cost of security that was approximately $1.9 Million, could not be overlooked. This, when combined with the statements of angry Columbia natives who chided the royal couple for being unaware, ultimately brought them more folly than favor, dusting off their main agenda, which was to help the youth, under the rug.
