Once upon a time, the Marvel Cinematic Universe was a battleground where legends either perished heroically or avenged gloriously with no middle ground. But ever since the dust settled after Endgame, Marvel has been running on caffeine and sheer will, struggling to move forward without the very icons that made it super. In fact, the studio has even resorted to resurrecting certain fan-favorite characters, like a magician pulling a rabbit from a well-worn hat. Enter Sing Sing star, Colman Domingo, recently threw a curveball, expressing his wish for a Marvel role with Spider-Man that mirrors the kind of journey in DCU.

In a recent conversation with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Colman Domingo illuminated his Marvel Cinematic Universe dreams, and how he would like to make a Marvel entry in live-action as none other than Norman Osborn. Domingo already voices the character in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, but he really intends to take it to a whole new level with a live-action movie mark. “[Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is] cool, but I do want to get the live-action out, too,” Domingo said.
When James Gunn and Peter Safran unveiled the DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, they had a clear vision—actors lending their voices in animation should also step into their live-action counterparts, just like Frank Grillo. But then came Domingo, candidly dropping his dream of playing Norman in an MCU movie, blurring the lines between the universes. Yet, when it came to animation, Domingo did not waver. He doubled down on his love for the character, vowing to embody Osborn’s transformation to Green Goblin in future installments.
Speaking of his Marvel Cinematic Universe dreams, Colman Domingo even set the record straight on the longstanding Kang rumors.
Colman Domingo breaks silence about replacing Jonathan Majors as Kang in MCU
On the recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Colman Domingo finally addressed the rumors of his joining the MCU as Kang the Conqueror to substitute for Jonathan Majors. After the gossip grapevine was in full swing, the actor and his PR team reportedly had a follow-up meeting with the head honchos of Marvel Studios. However, Domingo was adamant in his stance, wanting an MCU role that is his and only his.

For Domingo, the idea of replacing someone’s legacy did not really sit well with him. “No, I want to build something from the ground up that’s my own,” the actor added. Domingo noted that the conversation about Kang never really felt like it stemmed from his perspective, but if he was discussed at all, he still stands by his stance of leaving his own mark in the MCU, as he did at the Oscars last year as well. And since “there’s still talks,” who knows if a DCU-like transition could well sip into the Marvel territory right before its upcoming box-office showdown?
