In his latest interview with PEOPLE, Dolo Mariduena talked about his newly found stardom with Blue Beetle. During the conversation, he also opened up about show business, which is ever-changing. He stated that acting is not tangible like other professions where people know what is going to happen. But the 22-year-old feels superhero movies like “Blue Beetle, Across the Spider-Verse, Joy Ride,” are opening gates to bigger possibilities.
According to him, these films are highlighting different cultures, filling young audiences with confidence. Since the franchise is allowing more people like him to come in iconic roles like these. This way younger generation will feel connected because their culture is being presented on screen. “That’s something I find so inspiring about movies,” he added.
To prove his point, he also gave an example of Man in Black starring Will Smith. The Parenthood star gushed over him how the Oscar winner portrayed the character impressively, even after he had no roots in Latino culture. Meanwhile, Mariduena also gave the credit for his role to his mother, who had prepared him for it a long while ago.

In the same interview, Xolo Mariduena revealed that his mother Carmelita had a huge hand in his success. The actor said he was not a big fan of superhero comics. But his mom incurred his interest because she used to read him superhero comics at night for bedtime stories. She used to collect records and comic books and made his kid do the same, which ultimately helped him get into this role.
In fact, he even did not give an audition for the film and the offer came to him after the fame he garnered from the Netflix show. Blue Beetle got a worldwide release on August 18 in theaters. So people who have not watched it until now grab yourself a seat soon.
