Recently, Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, and Robert Downey Jr. appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Talking about things like the movie and its Oscar nominations, Kimmel teased the topic around the Oppenheimer premiere in London during the writers’ strike. While Kimmel pressed on the subject of how the actors left the premiere to stand in solidarity with the strike, Downey was quick to ask Murphy about his whereabouts thereafter. In his response, Murphy said, “In true Irish fashion, I went to the bar”.
Blunt cheekily added to Murphy’s words that they went to “the bar in solidarity”. The next few minutes also cleared it up that the three were all present at the self-curated after-party. Furthermore, Murphy did not seem to take a break from his core Irish spirit till reportedly “4 AM” while making his co-stars get a taste of his heritage. Blunt also added how Murphy’s eyes had become like “cookie monsters” by the end of what the cast deemed to be a “good night”.
While the party essence can be felt from miles away, Blunt also revealed a Downey-special leave token whenever the latter attends one.

As the Oppenheimer cast suited up after several awards and before the Oscars with 13 nominations on their sleeves for Jimmy Kimmel Live, not only did Murphy unleash his Irish profile but Downey also unveiled his quick-to-disappear avatar. After Downey teased Murphy’s whereabouts, Blunt quickly resorted to informing how the former has a special retreat language from parties called “T-Minus three minutes”.
Following the revelation, Blunt added how Downey “vaporizes” within seconds after that announcement. Kimmel was even quicker to find an Oppenheimer reference as he said, “Countdown to Trinity Test happens and he’s gone”. Erupting the entire audience and the trio in laughter, the cast brought their charm from the big screens to the YouTube monitors. And as they strut onto the next month for the Oscars with similar energy, let’s hope that the laughter pills continue and so do their Irish afterparties.
