For months now, Cillian Murphy has been working hard to promote Oppenheimer ahead of the awards season. Now, just a little before the film could sweep the Oscars, the actor has compared Christopher Nolan with legendary director, Danny Boyle. In a recent interview on Happy Sad Confused, the 47-year-old opened up about the similarities between the two directors. He said, “They both have immense respect for each other.”
Apart from that, he also told the interviewer that they were both huge fans of each other’s work. The actor continued by saying that they are both “unique filmmakers” and have their own way of doing things. During the conversation, Murphy also revealed that Nolan had watched the actor in Boyle’s 28 Days Later before casting him in the lead role of Oppenheimer.
The world might have never gotten Murphy in the role of J. Robert Oppenheimer without the work of Danny Boyle. However, now the film is on the way to making history after its BAFTA victories.

Ever since it was released last year, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has been the frontrunner at every awards show. While people had once wanted to pit it against Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, that unfortunately did not seem to work out too well. Although both films had been going head to head for nominations at every awards ceremony, the Oscar nominations ended up putting a stop to that.
The Cillian Murphy film ended up leading the award show with 13 nominations. However, Margot Robbie’s film fell a little short. The Mattel film was nominated only for 8 categories, which put an end to the Barbenheimer debate. Although some people might not be too happy with the Barbie snubs, it looks like everyone knows who the clear winner will be at the Oscar Awards.
