Cillian Murphy’s Atomic Performance Lands Golden Globes 2024 Nomination for ‘Oppenheimer’

The filmmaker’s acclaimed masterpiece has now gone on to receive several nominations at the 2024 Golden Globes Awards nominations. Moreover, alongside the director, its cast and crew also won accolades. In a staggering show of dominance, the movie stood as one of the highest earners not only at the box office early this year but in terms of the nods it received mere moments ago. As of now, all eyes are on the countdown to the final results as once again, Oppenheimer stands against Barbie for maximum wins.

Christopher Nolan earned himself a win as Oppenheimer landed a Best Motion Picture Award nomination. Helmed firmly by Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, the movie swept away many more nods to its name. While Murphy had himself nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama, Robert Downey Jr. and Emily Blunt also won Golden Globes nominations for Best Supporting Actor and Actress, respectively.
Nolan, individually, earned himself two nods for the Best Director and Best Screenplay Awards. Overall, the movie received eight nominations right after Greta Gerwig’s Barbie with nine. One of them also gave Universal Pictures a shining light with a chance to clinch the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. Meanwhile, for the coveted award of Best Motion Picture, Oppenheimer stands pitted against the likes of Killers of the Flower Moon and Netflix’s Maestro.
In the meantime, the movie’s billing and the unique selling point it had ultimately worked against it.

In a shocking list announced recently, Oppenheimer found itself snubbed of the Best Visual Effects category for the 2024 Academy Awards. While several flicks, including The Marvels, made the cut, Christopher Nolan’s very billing worked against him. Using practical effects over CGI, rendered the movie short of the required threshold of VFX shots of its competitors. Rather, such artistic was the filmmaker’s genius that he overlaid several practical shots upon one another to create complex visuals.
