The American film industry has had the touch of cinema’s greatest filmmakers. Notably, our generation’s biggest stalwarts are Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese, and Stanley Kubrick in no particular order. Gems like Interstellar and Oppenheimer were given to us by Nolans’ love for complex storytelling. Thrillers like Shutter Island and Wolf of Wall Street showed Scorsese’s love for a “liberal” style of cinema. And Kubrick just enjoyed plain storytelling with underlying dark humor and attention to detail. However, on this one list, Nolan surpassed all these legends to achieve this major spot.
In an update by Christopher Nolan Art & Updates on Twitter, Nolan made it to the top 250 films of IMBd, along with his Italian and American counterparts Scorsese and Kubrick. And it is not really a surprise. The recent blockbuster success of Oppenheimer has indeed pushed him ahead of these two directors.
With eight films in the list of 250, he managed to beat the other two who only have seven. The 53-year-old filmmaker had in works with Oppenheimer’s story come on screen for quite some time. The 8 films in the IMBd list were included – The Dark Knight, Inception, Oppenheimer, Interstellar, The Prestige, Memento, The Dark Knight Rises, and Batman Begins.

Based on the biography ‘American Prometheus,’ Nolan traces the political and scientific journey of the father of the atomic bomb, Robert J. Oppenheimer. Cillian Murphy, Florence Pugh, and Emily Blunt made a wonderful cast. Moreover, Robert Downey Jr. got a well-deserving comeback. It was one of his first major acting gigs after Iron Man.
The fans who already showed their love at the box office rushed to support the director’s win too.
Fans’ love for Christopher Nolan and his re-watchable magic on screen
The netizens on Twitter wished for a long and healthy life for Nolan so that we could watch more of his movies. Discussing the final frames of Nolan, the impending doom highlighting the scene’s backgrounds, they talked about the top-notch choice of background score in his films. Oppenheimer, having Ludwig Göransson develop the background score in the film, was the icing on the cake. And as Peaky Blinders‘ Murphy was being showered with mentions of Oscars, Nolan’s films have once again proven to be masterpieces worth the rewatch.
I am not surprised at all. Hopefully he will have a long and healthy life so we can watch a lot more movies from him.

And others lauded the director for never letting them down.
Every movie I've seen of his always sticks with me after I'm done watching. I'm literally never let down. Hope he can make a bunch more movies in our lifetimes.
