Can Ryan Reynolds’ ‘Deadpool 3’ Cross the Mighty 6-Figure Box Office Numbers Set by First 2 Films?
Disney bought and merged the entertainment arm of Fox for $71.3 billion and handed over Marvel Studios control over some of its most lucrative IPs. Years after the acquisition, and at a time when the entertainment juggernaut passes through the troubled waters of recent box office disappointments, the X-Men franchise has come out as a shining ray of hope. And to kick-start the full-fledged entry of the mutants into the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe come Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman with Deadpool & Wolverine, the third of the franchise.
The brimming question here pops out if the movie can pack a punch enough to not only revive Marvel’s fortunes but also kick above its past selves. And there lies an answer.

Ryan Reynolds vowed over fans and the box office with his reprisal of the character in 2016’s Deadpool earning a whopping $782 million and 2018’s Deadpool 2 bagging $785 million. Judging by a general trend in Marvel movies, each subsequent iteration of any franchise fares better than the previous one, barring a few exceptions. If the tide tilts in this direction, Deadpool & Wolverine may outshine its predecessors even as further luck stands in its favor.
In 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a botched adaptation left fans angered and clamoring for a proper face-off between Deadpool and Wolverine. However, Hugh Jackman had already called for retirement in 2017. Yet, with Kevin Feige pulling his strings and bringing a fan-favorite actor back to the big screen, nostalgia currents may sway the film to record success. Additionally, with the movie set to impact the sacred timeline, its potential can easily fill theaters, as called for by its first trailer setting record benchmarks.
In another gleaming beacon of hope, fervor, and anticipation, recent developments surrounding the movie and the X-Men franchise have proved largely monumental.

Henry Cavill, the fan-favorite Superman making a transition from DC to Marvel, had kept the Internet abuzz for a while before reports of him appearing as a Wolverine variant in Deadpool & Wolverine broke the talks through the roof. Confirmations from various tipsters point at the British actor appearing with a long, brown coat as the incoming movie also revolves heavily around the multiverse concept.
To serve as a cherry on the cake, Marvel Studios aired the first two episodes of the animated series, X-Men ’97. Tapping on pure nostalgia from the series that aired from 1992 through 1997, the reboot has maintained the same color palette and animation style while giving a major bump-up to the storyline, landing massive acknowledgment from the fandom.
