Following the pandemic, there has been a dearth of projects whose mere announcement would get fans up and bouncing. However, Will Smith, despite the controversy that he was involved with, has managed to do the same with I Am Legend 2. A cult favorite in genres, both, horror and science fiction, the movie was halfway through a billion with a $585.4 million box office collection in 2007. And its astonishing relevance was identified this year, as not just fans but its original cast is bouncing off the walls with the announcement of a sequel.

Will Smith and the original masterminds, Akiva Goldsman and Mark Protosevich, are returning with a new addition in the form of a bulked-up Michael B. Jordan after the success of Creed III. And now a key cast member, Alice Braga, of the original movie has expressed their desire to return.

Will I Am Legend 2 star Alice Braga?

In a mundane world that has met its destruction, it is important that the remaining characters fulfill the lack of characters. And the creators of I Am Legend hit the nail right on the head as they crafted the perfect equation with Neville, Ethan, and Anna. While Will Smith, as Neville, has become the driving force of the sequel, the brilliance can just not be replicated without Anna being portrayed by Alice Braga. And luckily for us, she is more than ready to make the leap at the first call from Akiva Goldsman.

In a recent interview with Collider, Braga excitedly chanted, “Can I please be in it?” about the sequel.

Barga was only twenty-three when she stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Will Smith in the goosebumps-inducing movie. “I hope! Because it was such a joy to work with them,” she said when asked about her return.

Given how excited she seems about the role, it will only be a matter of time before the creators hit her up for the role. Unless the sequel does not require her.

How is Will Smith alive in the I Am Legend sequel?

A driving factor behind why the movie went on to become the success that it did was Will Smith’s heroic sacrifice towards its ending. While it pleased the general audience, fans of the original source were angered by how they went off track with their ending.

But I Am Legend 2 is on a mission to right all wrongs. And carrying the story forward from the alternative ending where Smith joins Ethan and Anna is its first step. This is all the more reason to get Alice Braga for I Am Legend 2 so that she and Smith can recreate the same comradery years later.
