Camila Mendes Compares ‘Masters of the Universe’ With DC and Marvel, as She Raves About Her Dream Role Come True

Beyond the storied realms of Marvel and DC, where iconic heroes reign supreme, lies a vast expanse of untapped superhero potential. As the industry is swept up in the latest wave of revamps and reimaginations from the Big Two, Camila Mendes has taken a bold leap into the Masters of the Universe, a live-action franchise poised on the cusp of a revolutionary breakthrough. Speaking about the project she is strapping herself in for, Mendes revealed why Masters of the Universe is, in fact, a dream come true.
Though it may not possess the same level of mainstream recognition as its more established counterparts, the Masters of the Universe is where the boundaries of the possible are pushed to the limit and beyond, atleast Camila Mendes believes so.

In a conversation at the Collider Media Studio at SXSW earlier this month, Camila Mendes illuminated the latest live-action adaptation of Masters of the Universe. Calling it the “fresh superhero universe,” Mendes revealed having dreamed of being in a project like this. However, the opportunity feels all the more special because it lacks the Marvel and DC marquee muscle, giving it just the platform for superheroic reinvention.
The Masters of the Universe does not have a fanbase similar to the MCU or the DCU, but that only excites Mendes, who wants to create the universe in a “less pressured environment.” Besides that, she also believes the project is “fun and funny” with “layers and beautiful arcs and stories.” She shed light on Teela’s character and her love for the role. Although she has found a place of relevance with Teela, she ultimately has to be tight-lipped about it.
Camila Mendes went on with the funny teasers even while talking about Nicholas Galitzine, who portrays He-Man in Masters of the Universe.
Camila Mendes shares what sets Nicholas Galitzine apart in Masters of the Universe
Each and every day, at least one or two MCU or DCU rumors surround the A-listers of Tinseltown. Although generally fueled by fan forums, even stars take notes from these, because who does not dream of becoming a superhero? This is why, while speaking of her entry into the unexplored world of Masters of the Universe, when Camila Mendes was asked by Nicholas Galitzine’s He-Man by Collider, she felt like giving up anything would be giving away everything.

“I feel like if I were to tell you that, it would completely give away a huge plot point,” Mendes said. However, she did zero in, pointing out that Galitzine’s “sense of humor” is his USP in Masters of the Universe. “He’s very funny, very talented, and very funny,” she stressed. While Masters of the Universe may not have Guardians giggling, it very well has Mendes’ funny bones tickling and the fans cannot wait.
