Meghan Markle stepped back from her role as a working royal but has remained active in various fields. As she moves forward with ventures like American Riviera Orchard and her $100 million Netflix deal with Prince Harry, the Duchess has faced significant criticism from royal observers. However, ahead of her birthday, she received some leniency from the former BBC royal editor Jennie Bond, who recently spoke to OK! Magazine and described her as a “businesswoman at heart.”
Bond noted that while Markle does engage in charitable work and occasional royal tours, she is not entirely convinced that the Duchess is fully “cut out” to a life of service. Instead, Bond views the Duchess as a powerful commercial figure with numerous philanthropic ideas. She also emphasized that there is nothing wrong with embracing one’s commercial pursuits, even if they sometimes appear more in quantity than her philanthropic efforts.
The expert also anticipated a vibrant birthday celebration for the Duchess, predicting that her family, central to everything, would play a significant role. It appears she was spot on.

According to former royal butler Grant Harold, who spoke with the New York Post recently, Meghan Markle is expected to celebrate her birthday with a low-key gathering of close friends and family, excluding the Windsor clan. Harold, who served as King Charles’ butler for seven years, shared that Prince Harry was likely to host a casual at-home cookout for his wife, noting that the Prince has always been “old-fashioned like that.”
Harold suggested that an outdoor barbecue might be on the agenda, given their enjoyment of summer dinners with friends, and he assured that the Duke will ensure “Meghan is celebrated.” While Harold mentioned the possibility of birthday wishes from the royal family, including Prince William, Kate Middleton, and the King and Queen, he also indicated that Markle should not be holding her breath for public gestures.
