"Bucky is finally cool again"- ‘Thunderbolts*’ Finally Assures a Winter Soldier Return With a Trailer Drop
Bucky Barnes has long been an underrated character in the MCU. The Winter Soldier, though popular among fans, does not make many on-screen appearances, and when he does, he rarely gets to speak. It is a bit disappointing, as there is so much potential for him to be explored, but with so many heroes in the MCU, he often got sidelined. However, that is all about to change with the upcoming Thunderbolts* in 2025.
The secret MCU project that Scarlett Johansson and Kevin Feige had reportedly been working on for a while has finally dropped its first teaser trailer. Right away, Bucky’s character stood out in the footage. The trailer made it clear that Thunderbolts* will focus on action and the dynamics surrounding Bucky, played by Sebastian Stan. Stan last played Bucky in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

In one scene from the trailer, Bucky is seen chasing his teammates, firing at a car, and launching a weapon that flips it over. This could likely serve as a hint at the struggles and growth Bucky will experience in the movie. It might also suggest that someone has found a way to awaken the programming that turned him into the Winter Soldier in the first place. Overall, it looks like Bucky might finally get the character development he has been waiting for in this upcoming movie, and fans are all in for it.
Since the Thunderbolts* trailer dropped, fans have been quick to point out how “cool” Bucky seemed in the trailer.
Fans celebrate Bucky's return in Thunderbolts*
Bucky Barnes' comeback has raised plenty of questions about his character's journey since The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The Thunderbolts* trailer hinted that he might slip back into his old, violent ways. But he might as well rise above those dark urges. Nonetheless, it is definitely going to be interesting and "very different from any Marvel movie" seen before, as has been hinted already. As Hollywood insider MyTimeToShineHello put it, “Bucky is finally cool again,” but fans quickly responded by emphasizing that he has always been cool.
That said, some fans argued that Bucky does not really deserve the hype he is getting from the MCU crowd and is not "cool" either.
