That too, Lively was seen, not just drawing inspiration from Spears, but channeling it directly from her wardrobe.

Even as cinema has revived various elements and beloved characters, Lively has managed to bring back a fashion trend with ease, proving that she does not need a Met Gala to resurrect a fashion memory so iconic.

At the red carpet premiere of It Ends With Us in New York City on Tuesday, Blake Lively spared no expense in her tribute to Britney Spears with a fashion revival suited for Vogue’s cover shot. The Gossip Girl star wore the exact vintage Versace gown Spears donned in 2002, adorned with sequin flowers and butterflies. Lively confirmed to PEOPLE that it was indeed the original couture piece, expressing a mix of pride and astonishment, saying, “It should be in the Smithsonian or the Met. But it’s on me.” Lively also called herself the biggest "Spears stan" in a chat with Extra.

The multicolored sequined dress features a one-shoulder halter neckline and a unique cutout across the bodice, perfectly complementing the floral-themed looks Lively has been showcasing all summer, which ties with her character Lily Bloom and her floral shop in It Ends With Us. The actress topped it off by pairing the outfit with rings from Lorraine Schwartz’s fine jewelry collection, and a set of dangling earrings. She also shared a heartfelt message for the pop star on her Instagram story, celebrating “the ultimate queen who made us all want to sparkle.”
