Teased back in 2022, A Simple Favor 2 will follow up on its 2018 installment and will witness the duo of Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick reprise their roles. Additionally, the original cast of Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, Ian Ho, and Kelly McCormack stand set to return. Posts on X (formerly Twitter) welcomed the news with much fanfare and also let bare the details of Paul Feig directing the flick and Jessica Sharzer serving as its executive producer-screenwriter.
The pair of Kendrick’s Stephanie Smothers and Lively’s Emily Nelson will shape up a plot that will have the story move to Capri, Italy. Furthermore, the official synopsis advised movie-goers to “expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding” while teasing twists all along during the wedding of a wealthy Italian businessman. While the first film still sits comfortably with an 84% Rotten Tomatoes score, the follow-up would aim to better the ratings as well as make more than the over $97 million of its predecessor.
Famed for her natural and charismatic acting, the scenes at Hollywood as well as the cast of A Simple Favor 2 could have been different if one call had swept its way to Lively’s favor.

In the early 2000s, Blake Lively stood as a young teenager with strong ambitions and a desire to make it big in Hollywood. Following that passion, she auditioned for the role of Karen Smith for the 2004 movie, Mean Girls, as Amanda Seyfried opened up. At that time, the latter came into the room and played the role of Regina George but recalled Lively also being present while “thinking she was so gorgeous”.
Seyfried ended up getting the role for which Blake Lively auditioned, whereas the latter had to try her chances elsewhere. Fortunately, fate played in separate ways and the actress went on to star in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants as well as The Gossip Girl series. All of it, in turn, led to the formation of her own acting flair, which stands out uniquely in Hollywood.
