Blake Lively Makes Her First Post Following the ‘It Ends With Us’ Backlash to Promote Her Hair Care Line

Blake Lively went on a social media hiatus following the intense backlash from her It Ends With Us press tour. Her last Instagram post was a clip of a Girl Talk discussion with Colleen Hoover, Jenny Slate, and Isabela Ferrer- the women behind the 2024 movie. However, it seems her business venture has brought her back into the social media world, although she might not be ready to face public opinion on them yet.

Lively recently shared a post promoting her hair care line, along with some of her forgotten humor, after keeping a low profile for weeks.

Blake Lively shared an Instagram carousel to promote her all-in-one, leave-in potion from Blake Brown Beauty. The actress was dressed in an overcoat and denim, letting her voluminous, porous blonde locks flow freely. In the witty caption, Lively joked that while the potion could fix all hair issues, it would not “provide you a shirt… or a hairbrush,” referencing her messy hair and shirtless look in the portraits. However, the Gossip Girl alum chose to keep her comments turned off for the time being.

Blake Lively launched her hair-care brand, Blake Brown, around the same time as the It Ends With Us promotions, for which she also faced a lot of backlash. She was not only criticized for using the message of the movie as a marketing strategy, without doing justice to the survivors of the social evil but was also called out for not having the healthiest hair herself. However, Lively may not have intended for this to happen.

A report from Entertainment Weekly revealed that the It Ends With Us premiere was initially planned for Valentine’s Day. Due to scheduling changes, it was pushed to June, and eventually to August, which ended up overlapping with Blake Lively’s long-planned brand launch. This unfortunate shift left little room between the two events, giving the impression they were intentionally timed to align.

As for Betty Buzz and Betty Booze, there did not seem to be any real reason behind the promotions other than seizing a good marketing opportunity. It is common for stars to use their film projects to push their side ventures, and vice versa. But, in Lively’s case, her alleged feud with Justin Baldoni, Ryan Reynolds' uncalled-for involvement in the creative process, and the sensitive subject matter of It Ends With Us sparked a ripple of controversy that still has not completely died down.
