Blake Lively’s ‘It Ends With Us’ Is Currently Making Bigger Waves Than Ryan Reynolds’ ‘Deadpool’ in the UK

Ryan Reynolds has saved the MCU from a long dry spell. Deadpool & Wolverine did not just outshine the global earnings of the first two Deadpool films; it also set a new record for the biggest R-rated opening both in the US and worldwide. And now that the Reynolds and Hugh Jackman starrer has crossed the $900M mark at the global box office, hitting $1 billion seems within reach. Even with all these impressive box office achievements, someone has stolen Reynolds’ limelight, and it is none other than his wife, Blake Lively.

Blake Lively has upstaged Deadpool & Wolverine in the UK with a new milestone of It Ends With Us.

It was expected from the pre-sales that Blake Lively’s It Ends With Us might beat the opening record of Deadpool & Wolverine. While that did not quite happen, the romantic drama is giving the current top movie a serious challenge. This Friday, Lively’s It Ends With Us officially pushed Deadpool & Wolverine out of the top spot and became the #1 movie in the UK. On that same Friday, Lively’s movie made $24 million, including $11 million from previews, while Shawn Levy’s film brought in $15.7 million.

It Ends With Us is now aiming to top $40 million in its opening weekend, and Deadpool & Wolverine is also hoping for the same numbers in its third weekend. Analysts say that It Ends With Us’ audience is mainly female- most of them being either fans of Colleen Hoover’s book, which became popular on BookTok, or Taylor Swift fans, due to the music in the film. Nonetheless, even with the competition, Ryan Reynolds has not stopped promoting It Ends With Us.

Ryan Reynolds did a funny interview with Brandon Sklenar, who plays Blake Lively's love interest in It Ends With Us, just ahead of the movie's release. During the hilarious chat, Reynolds had a great time teasing the clearly unimpressed Sklenar. But that was not all. Reynolds also brought in Hugh Jackman and his mother, Tammy Reynolds, to make Sklenar even more uncomfortable.

The crossover between It Ends With Us and Deadpool & Wolverine, along with Reynolds’ support for the movie, gave Justin Baldoni's film the final push it needed in its marketing. Even though Blake Lively jokingly told fans not to "f**k" Deadpool & Wolverine, the couple's support for each other’s projects is clear. It is safe to say that the 'It' couple is grabbing all the box-office attention this year.
