Blake Lively Continues Damage Control: Sets Difference Aside With Anna Kendrick for ‘A Simple Favor’ Sequel
Blake Lively may have stepped out of the spotlight for a while. However, with It Ends With Us, she is not only back in the limelight, but has been stirring up a whole lot of controversy, too. Her rom-com return gave fans a taste of that classic Lively charm, but with some bumps along the way, she has also been hit with a bit of a mean girl reputation. Every move she has made since seems like damage control, and her latest decision to return for A Simple Favor sequel with Anna Kendrick is just adding fuel to that fire.
Notorious for their rumored on-set clashes, Lively and Kendrick are getting back on screen together, putting their differences aside this time around.

An exclusive source recently revealed to Life & Style that Blake Lively is actively “pushing back” against being permanently labeled as the villain in every project she undertakes moving forward from It Ends With Us. Although there were reports of clashes on set, with some real-life déjà vu of Lively playing up her on-screen animosity with Anna Kendrick in A Simple Favor, the insider notes the duo has successfully “set aside their personality differences” to collaborate on the sequel.
The Gossip Girl alum had a reputation for clashing with her co-stars even before It Ends With Us. The tension between A Simple Favor stars reportedly began when Kendrick joked about Taylor Swift, Lively’s best friend, during an interview with The Edit. However, during the press tour, things heated up as both actresses took subtle jabs at each other in their interviews. Henry Golding, who believes the sequel is the next big thing, claimed he had not seen any friction.
The surge of reports surrounding Lively’s return, however, as part of her damage control strategy definitely raises some eyebrows since at the same time, reports on It Ends With Us sequel have also made it through.

According to an insider who spoke with Life & Style, Sony is eager for Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni to resolve their differences so that the sequel to It Ends With Us can get underway within the next 18 months. The source added the studio is reportedly doing everything it can to make it happen while respecting what Lively and Baldoni have already contributed to the project.
The insider also mentioned that Lively is open to returning for more projects if they present a “great business proposition.” However, that depends on whether her personality differences with Baldoni or others do not become a deciding factor. But the source concluded that, for It Ends With Us, it ultimately comes down to “money,” as it always has.
