With valor in its heart and nostalgia echoing in its corridors, DC set out on an odyssey to recapture its past splendor, only to find itself becoming a house without bricks. The studio seemed to have developed a divine belief in the product of its own imagination and wanted to unravel a cinematic universe akin to Marvel of its own. The only minute problem being the fact that Marvel has been planning its cinematic universe for decades. While this was only a fan theory, David Goyer has confirmed it.

The debate surrounding the fall of DC from the ninth sky to the horizon after the disappointing 2023 release of The Flash once again has circled back to Henry Cavill and his Superman.

James Gunn unleashed a plethora of threats, all echoing the sentiment that Cavill was the only good thing that DC had after announcing his decision to drop Henry Cavill. However, according to David Goyer’s statements during the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the DC set itself up for failure long before that. The writer revealed that Warner Bros. were in awe of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and wanted one of their own. And that is how the lackluster Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice came to be.

Goyer confirmed the long-understood fact that DC at the hands of its constantly changing executives was facing its biggest failure. And somewhere between its revolving door of executives and making a cinematic universe of its own, DC forgot perhaps its most reasonable cure: A Henry Cavill standalone Superman movie.

DC roped in David Goyer when he was still basking in the success of the Blade franchise. The writer, along with Christopher Nolan, became the mastermind behind Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. One of the most cherished movies from DC in recent years. However, it is unlikely that Goyer will ever be up to write another Superman movie again.

The filmmaker was not happy with DC’s decision to brush off a standalone Superman arc. With the actor now off the DC board for good and James Gunn presenting a literally fresh Superman, it is highly unlikely that David Goyer will be writing another Superman. However, this does not hold true for the Blade franchise in the case of Goyer.
