“Better rating than Joker 2”- Sebastian Stan’s Controversial Donald Trump Biography, ‘The Apprentice’ Claims a Win Despite Falling Flat

If 2023 was the year of two hits and a few misses, 2024 arrived with enough firepower to keep any cinephile on their toes. With shots quite literally being fired, from every department, Sebastian Stan kept his best foot forward with The Apprentice, a Donald Trump biopic at a time when the theaters had made room for what was expected to be a larger-than-life phenomenon starring Lady Gaga in Joker: Folie À Deux.

While the walkouts of Joker: Folie À Deux did not exactly translate into walk-ins for The Apprentice shows, they did turn the tides for the movie. Sebastian Stan's movie about Donald Trump has made the best of ironies by landing a comparison to another movie about a certified maniac as fans prefer the former over the latter.

Sebastian Stan’s take on Donald Trump has made fans reconsider their preferences, proving that, when it comes to watching madmen, ambition trumps absurdity. While Gaga’s Harley Quinn flailed about, Stan’s version of Trump strutted in with polished irony, drawing a curious crowd. And the verdict seems to be that audiences would much rather see an arguable 'madman' build an empire than burn one down.

The fresh ratings on Rotten Tomatoes along with the Joker: Folie À Deux comparisons, is a huge achievement in itself, given that the movie almost did not get released in the United States due to its controversial themes. To deal with this whiplash of irony, fans have hilariously taken to compare a psychological thriller about a maniac to a biography about the former President of the United States.

Fans pick Sebastian Stan's The Apprentice over $200 Million Joker 2

The controversies surrounding Joker: Folie À Deux do not end at the one dimensional screenplay or the flailing take on the iconic characters but go much beyond to the controversial understanding of 'Joker' by Todd Phillips. This backlash against everything the movie stands for has turned into appreciation for Sebastian Stan's take on Donald Trump.

Fans rushed to remark at how The Apprentice, despite being on a completely different scale than Joker: Folie À Deux had a "better rating thank Joker 2". And that is in fact the case with the movie standing at 31% on Rotten Tomatoes absolutely putting other bad comic movies to shame.
