Best Known for ‘Man of Steel’, Henry Cavill Still Had a Few Regrets as Superman
Henry Cavill has had quite an interesting trajectory in the past two decades. However, the role that still reigns on top is his superhuman alien from Krypton. When the actor starred in Man of Steel playing the iconic Superman, he cemented his place among the top-notch contenders of show business. In fact, he immersed himself into the character so amazingly that fans have still failed to get over his version of the hero even after his exit, often wishing him to come back.
Despite winning the hearts of millions with his portrayal, the British superstar had a few regrets, as Superman revealed in an old interview.

In 2021, Henry Cavill sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss his amazing career. When asked about a decision he regrets in his profession, the actor first politely said that everything has led to his success and there is nothing he regrets. However, he eventually recalled a scene from his breakout film, Man of Steel, which he thought could have been better. “I’m talking to Martha. I would’ve smiled differently,” explained the 40-year-old.
According to Cavill, the smile seemed forced, and it irritated him whenever he saw that part in the film. He could not understand why he gave that smile, because his actual smile was different. “That I would have done it differently,” he said. Though the Enola Holmes star clearly had an aversion to the way she smiled, he still won over the hearts of his fans.
In fact, they loved him so much that when James Gunn benched him; they attacked the new CEO on social media. Besides this regret, Cavill also expressed his openness about his weakness as a professional artist in the same interview.

Fans know Henry Cavill has only chased roles in his career that he feels would suit him best. Or the one he has grown up reading and watching on the screen. However, the Immortals star confessed to THR that he has always been more of a trusting and open person and did not rush for things. “I wish I’d been a bit more business savvy and smart and realize everyone has their own thing going on,” he said.
The Jersey-born star thought things could have been better if he had a better business mentor from the beginning of his career. As an actor, Cavill might have regretted some decisions, but his career has been going on the right path lately. He has lined up several projects that he is passionate about. In fact, some of them have the potential to turn into franchises, just like Man of Steel.
