After nearly 20 years, the Red Dragons made their comeback to the Second Division. However, a few games into the league, the club faced its first challenge as Ben Foster announced retirement. Following the iconic match against Swindon Town, the legendary goalkeeper decided to hang his gloves. And recently, Foster recalled the exact moment when he knew he should retire. On his YouTube channel, Fozcast, the former Manchester United star, revealed how, after conceding the third goal in the match, he knew it was time to bid farewell.
The English footballer explained to his co-host how his usual self would have easily stopped Dan Kamp’s 22-yard-shot. However, during the match, his quick reaction time evaded him in that instance, and despite knowing where the shot would land, he failed to stop it. Expressing regret over the same, the former Wrexham legend spoke, “I wouldn’t even have to think about doing it before. Honestly, I wouldn’t. I’d just do it.”
Meanwhile, Foster’s last dance was surely a treat to watch, as Wrexham pulled off an incredible comeback against the hosts. At the same time, his retirement has surely been tough on the Red Dragons’ side.

Not having Ben Foster on their side surely has been tough on other Wrexham players. A while ago, skipper Luke Young expressed his disappointment over Foster’s retirement. He further added how he was not at all expecting the English keeper to retire. Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds also expressed his gratitude to the goalkeeper for his incredible run at Wrexham.
As of now, the Welsh side is currently looking at Mark Howard as their goalkeeper. Interestingly, Wrexham is planning to bring on-board another English keeper to bring more depth into the squad. Moreover, the Red Dragons also seem to be getting back on track as they recorded their third win a while ago.
