It is no surprise that the friends of the royal couple have been the ones spilling the beans about their epic romance. Whether it was a buddy playing matchmaker or a palace pal letting us in on their early dating days, it was all thanks to those friendships. But here is the twist: while she was Markle to the world, she was also Rachel Zane to Korsh, the mastermind behind Suits. Right in the midst of the show’s drama, Markle’s real-life love story started to unfold. Certainly, Korsh had a front-row seat to that unfolding love.
Way before the rest of the world got wind of it, Korsh was already in the know. Being in cahoots with the royals comes with its own set of hush-hush rules, so Korsh was totally in the loop. And get this, when he was asked about his thoughts on the whole deal and what stuck in his memory, his response was a total throwback. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Korsh spilled the beans, saying, “Oh, I was as excited in some ways as everybody else.”
Talk about rubbing shoulders with royalty but it came with its own set-offs.
The off side of royals with Suits
In the backstage whirlwind, a transcontinental collaboration took center stage. While the show may have been based in Canada while being filmed in the United States, royal influence sneaked into the creative process, a tidbit unveiled by Prince Harry in his book. Amid the creative tango, a quirky line of dialogue faced royal scrutiny.
The person in charge of the show had a fun secret word, “poppycock,” for when they needed to talk about touchy stuff. They decided to let Markle’s character use it in a scene. But the royal folks did not really like the idea. Maybe they were worried about the word having a hidden meaning. So, they switched it to “bullshit” instead, which left the show’s boss feeling a bit let down because he had been really excited about the first word.
