Before Working on ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’, Henry Cavill Replaced Tom Cruise in This $110,000,000 Film
The debate for the best actors in Hollywood is a hot topic of contention among fans. One can go on about who deserves the title, but there are a few actors who make a convincing case. Fitting the bill are Henry Cavill and Tom Cruise, two of the most established actors in the industry today. Both the stars have done commendable work throughout the years and delivered some of the finest films. However, do you know the Man Of Steel star once beat Tom Cruise to land a role in a very successful film?
People are no strangers to the complex process that goes behind casting an actor in a role. The creators often shortlist a handful of actors before finally selecting the most desirable candidate. Interestingly, both Tom Cruise and Henry Cavill were among Guy Ritchie’s choices to star in the film The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Cavill starred as Napoleon Solo, doing an incredible job in the movie. However, surprising as it sounds, the role was first offered to Tom Cruise. The actor could not star in the 2015 flick as he was already working on Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation.

Alongside Cruise, Guy Ritchie also wanted to cast the Man Of Steel star but in a different role. A lesser-known fact about the movie is that the creators initially wanted Cavill to play the role of Illya Kuryakin in the film with Tom Cruise as the lead. However, the British star landed the lead role, and he did not disappoint.
The Man From U.N.C.L.E. was a commercial and critical success. The adventure film grossed a whooping over $109 Million worldwide during its theatrical run. Meanwhile, Cavill later went on to join Tom Cruise on Mission: Impossible – Fallout, the highest-grossing movie in the Mission: Impossible series.

A major role Henry Cavill was rejected for
Henry Cavill is undoubtedly one of the best performers in our industry. The actor has been a part of some very successful franchises throughout his career. It might surprise you to know, but the British star almost landed himself a role in the Harry Potter film series as well.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire introduced a wide range of new characters. One such was Cedric Diggory. Surprising as it sounds, Cavill was running to play the part. However, it was a little too late as Cavill was already 20 and seemed too old for the 17-year-old character. The part later went on to Robert Pattinson.
