Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling each reportedly earned a base salary of twelve and a half million dollars for the first film, per widely cited industry figures. Robbie also served as producer through her banner LuckyChap Entertainment, which had developed the project years before cameras ever rolled. Given the movie's staggering worldwide haul of over one point four billion dollars, her total earnings, including salary and box office bonuses, were estimated near fifty million dollars. Some industry chatter suggested her final number climbed even higher.

Supporting players reportedly earned far smaller sums, with Will Ferrell said to have taken home around two million dollars for playing the Mattel chief executive. America Ferrera and Kate McKinnon reportedly followed with figures closer to one million and seven hundred thousand dollars. Those numbers now sit worlds apart from the eye-watering asks currently on the table for a sequel.
