Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon have been moving within the same Hollywood circle for decades now. Though the actresses might not get along on-screen, they are incredibly tight-knit friends in real life. The actresses played tense co-workers in The Morning Show, both of whom exposed a toxic workplace culture on their television network. However, the Apple TV+ series is not the first show that made the actresses squared off on-screen. 

Before the release of The Morning Show, Reese Witherspoon sat down for an interview with Thor actress Natalie Portman. In the interview, Witherspoon gushed over the beginning of her beautiful friendship with Aniston. 

How did Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston become friends?

The friendship between two of the successful actresses in Hollywood started on the sets of the show, which is all about friendship. Witherspoon met Aniston while working on Friends for her guest appearance. During a 2019 interview with Natalie Portman in Harper’s BAZAAR’s Daring issue, the Legally Blonde star revealed being friends with Aniston before they started working on The Morning Show. The actress recalled nursing her daughter Ava on the sets of Friends, and how Aniston was there to lend a hand. 

Witherspoon also shared how Aniston eased her nervousness during the filming of The One With Rachel’s Sister. The 47-year-old actress was in awe of Aniston’s ability to confidently perform in front of a live audience. “We’ve been friends ever since,” added the Academy Award-winning actress. Witherspoon is not the only one who speaks highly and appreciatively of the Murder Mystery actress.

The world knows that Reese Witherspoon is a powerhouse who wholeheartedly invests herself in everything she takes on. She is not only one of the world’s richest actresses but is also a tireless and hard-working entrepreneur. During a 2023 interview with BAZAAR, the Friends alum commented on her on-screen sister’s work ethic. The actress expressed her amazement at Reese Witherspoon’s ability to balance multiple tasks at once. 

“I just look at her and I think, You absolutely exhaust me, just looking at your plate”, shared the Emmy award-winning actress. She also went on to call Witherspoon “one of the most productive human beings”, who has mastered the art of multitasking. Both actresses are still going strong with their twenty-year-long friendship, which took root in the midst of the all-time classic sitcom.
