As reported by Dynamite, Dynamite Comics has announced a new Barbarella series, set to debut ahead of the upcoming Sydney Sweeney film. The series comes from writer Blake Northcott and artist Anna Morozova and follows Barbarella as she embarks on new space-faring adventures. Recently released cover art and interior pages showcase the character's thrilling journeys across the galaxy.

The new Barbarella series will pay homage to the character's original creator, Jean-Claude Forest, and predecessors. Writer Blake Northcott aims to capture the tone and style of 1960s comics and the Jane Fonda film. Northcott expresses her excitement, stating that Barbarella is an iconic character, alongside Leia, Ripley, and Sarah Connor, and that telling her story is a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity". The series will blend nostalgia with fresh adventures.

Moreover, the synopsis, as much as revealed by the reports, does justice to the storyline carried forward from the 1960s.

According to CBR reports, the series begins with Barbarella relaxing with her alien pet companion Vix after saving the universe. However, her downtime is short-lived, as she soon discovers that not all pleasure planets are created equal. As she explores the cosmos, she encounters a range of unscrupulous figures, leading to exciting and unpredictable adventures, with more in the pipeline given Sydney Sweeney's upcoming flick.

As far as Sydney Sweeney's movie is concerned, a remake of the cult classic Barbarella film is in development, with Sweenry set to star. Producers Jane Goldman and Honey Ross are reportedly eyeing MCU maestro Edgar Wright to direct. With both Sweeney and Wright currently tied up in other projects, it may be some time before the film moves forward. The project remains in development, with no release date or further news confirmed as yet.
