During the filming of the scene, the actor didn’t want to say the same to which Cameron adjusted to ask him to say the iconic “I’ll be back”. But even then, he did not agree with Cameron. He even lashed out at Schwarzenegger and said he was the writer, not the Commando actor. Thus, their disagreement ended up in a fight where Cameron said if he did not tell Schwarzenegger how to act, he really should not teach him how to write.

However, the FUBAR star did not hesitate to admit Cameron was right in the documentary to go with the iconic line that is still so popular even after all these years. Schwarzenegger was not shy to admit his mistake and give credit to Cameron for keeping the line and hail it ‘absolutely right.’ He continued to add that how the infamous line is the most quoted line in the history of motion pictures. Although it became a tremendous hit, why did the actor want to change the line in the first place?

Arnold Schwarzenegger found the line to be ‘funny’

The 1984 sci-fi film sees Schwarzenegger as a cyborg assassin. He was there to alter the history in order to change the future. Considering the character, the former governor of California thought “I’ll be back” sounded funnier. As he wanted something that sounded more machine-like to fit with his character like “I will be back”.

However, Cameron did not feel the significant need to change the line because he thought it did not even have that much impact overall. Nevertheless, even after all these years, the line “I’ll be back” has its charm. So, as Schwarzenegger himself admitted, Cameron was right to stick to his decision.
