Arnold Schwarzenegger Acknowledges FUBAR’s Similarity to His $378.9 Ringer ‘True Lies’
Arnold Schwarzenegger is a man made for the cinema. And he has known it too. The actor, on various occasions, has recounted that ever since he was little, he knew that he was meant to be loved by millions around the globe. This is why when the actor took a hiatus as long as four years from acting, it did not sit well with fans. While it is true that Terminator 3 did not do as well as one hoped, fans missed the Austrian Oak and his magnetic pull on the screen. And Netflix made sure to check all the boxes with his debut series FUBAR.
One watch at the trailer and Schwarzenegger saying “I am back” in his heavy Austrian accent makes the Terminator reference pretty clear. However, a fan pointed out how similar the series is to another Arnold Schwarzenegger hit, and the former governor could not help but share the same sentiment.

The plot of the Netflix series revolves around Luke, played by the 75-year-old actor. Luke is a secret agent who has spent the majority of his life working on the field, trying to protect his country. All of this left Luke a lonely man after his retirement. However, one mission requires him to work together with his daughter and ultimately bring them together. A fan on Twitter could not help but point to how the plot seems like a sister of the one followed in Schwarzenegger’s True Lies. And the actor replied saying “That’s what I thought when I got the pitch. Enjoy!“.
True Lies was released in 1994, bringing together the iconic duo of Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Cameron. The movie was an absolute smash at the box office and, to date, considered one, if not the best, action movie of all time.
While the actor has acknowledged the similarity, there is still a lot that separates the two.
Why FUBAR can never be a True Lies sequel?
As the Austrian Oak returns to the screens, it is evident by the number of countries where the show was found trending that fans are loving it. And the more people watch it, the more they point out the similarities between the series and True Lies. Schwarzenegger himself in an interview said “It was based on True Lies …” as reported by Toronto Sun.

The series even stars Tom Arnold, who played Albert Gibson in the 1994 film. However, FUBAR is led by a character much more aware and comical than Harry Tasker. Moreover, the series focuses on familial bonds and their importance. Therefore, FUBAR is far from a True Lies sequel but an excellent tribute to it.
