Apart From Missing Out on Other Roles, Henry Cavill Once Turned Down the Lead in This Zack Snyder 2006 Blockbuster
Who could ever forget the iconic role of Superman portrayed by the fan favorite, Henry Cavill? Right since the announcement of his being cast, he stole the hearts of all DC fans. However, less than a decade later, he was given the boot as the entire cinematic universe was being recreated from scratch. With James Gunn at the helm of the changes, Zack Snyder’s 2013 Man of Steel star was unfortunately not the right choice.
However, his string of bad luck may have actually begun long before the 40-year-old was cast as Superman. In fact, after missing out on multiple roles over the years, Cavill still turned down another Zack Snyder film which came out in 2006.

Shortly after being cast in Snyder’s Superman film, the director and his leading man sat down for an interview to promote their upcoming film. In a 2011 interview with Entertainment Weekly, it was revealed that the Sucker Punch director had wanted to cast Henry Cavill in his 2006 film, 300. However, the star ended up turning him down. The film came out starring Gerad Butler and has become one of the classics over time.
While most fans thought it to be a crazy idea to have turned down a Zack Snyder film, Henry Cavill was more focused on bagging another role at the time. With the possibility of playing the iconic 007, he could not help but turn down the role in Synder’s epic. After a battle of auditions between him and Daniel Craig, The Tudors star ended up missing out on the role as he was too young. Sadly, it was not the only role that he missed out on in his career.
Although it may have been Henry Cavill’s choice back then, the actor may have missed his chance to play the legendary role for the second time. This time it is because he chose to try his hand at a different type of spy film.

Earlier this year, Daniel Craig officially gave up his iconic role in the James Bond franchise. While most were expecting Henry Cavill to swoop in and try to land the role, the actor went a different route. After giving up his roles in the Superman franchise and The Witcher, fans of Cavill were sure that the star would make a move on the role. However, he surprised everyone by announcing his upcoming project, Argylle.
Although it may be another spy thriller, the upcoming film does not have the level of elegance that James Bond holds. However, with the trailer out and an explanation for his bizarre hairstyle for the movie, the hype for the film is slowly beginning to rise. So far, the film is set to be released on February 2, 2024. Thankfully, fans will not have to wait too long before their favorite star makes his way back to the big screen.
