The Witcher Season 3, try as it may, cannot find itself to rise above the fact that it is Henry Cavill’s last season. It is through the actor’s portrayal of Geralt that fans found themselves giving the show a chance despite having little to no fate in Netflix adaptations of cult favorite video games. Therefore, as Season 3 marks the last of Cavill as Geralt and a replacement is already set in place, there are only select things that can make fans stay, and that too if done right.

Apart from the convincing performance of Geralt and the budding tension between the majority of the Continent and Ciri, if there is one thing that has intrigued fans, it is Yennefer and Geralt. And this has to do a lot with the equation Anya Chalotra and Henry Cavill share off-screen.

Anya Chalotra opens up about working with Henry Cavill

The most that fans have seen of Yennefer and Geralt together was in Season 1. And in Season 2, Geralt swore to never forgive her for the crimes against his surprise daughter, Ciri. But whatever bad blood that the two have, for now, seems to be restricted only to the screens because Anya Chalotra cannot stop gushing about Cavill. In an interview with Netflix’s TUDUM, the actress said, “I love acting with Henry. He’s so driven and passionate about playing Geralt.”

Her statement came as a great solace to the fans, who were infuriated with the nonchalance displayed by most of the creators and cast as Henry Cavill left the show. Chalotra, herself, seems to have mirrored a lot of Cavill’s passion in her portrayal of Yennefer. And fans love her for it.

As this will be the last season featuring Cavill as Geralt, fans will be unforgiving if it ends without a reunion between the sorceress and the Witcher. Thankfully, for all their nonchalance, this is a fact they are aware of.

What is in store for Yennefer and Geralt?

As the previous season saw most of the Continent running after Ciri, it was clear that Geralt alone would not be able to protect her. And therefore, Yennefer and Geralt will, as Anya Chalotra puts, “have no choice but to work together for once.”

Their reunion, despite Geralt saying “never” in big bold letters, is a crucial part of Andrzej Sapkowski’s book. And while the show has not adapted the book word to word, to say the least, their relationship is also crucial to its success. If they play their cards right with Yennefer, it will lead to a more comfortable swap for Geralt’s character.
